Updated Skoda Octavia vRS now available to order

Not only is there an obvious link between the weight of your right foot and the rate at which your fuel tank empties, but the cars capable of making the most of that link also tend to be at the more expensive end of the spectrum. Unless you’re eminently sensible and lease the recently updated Skoda Octavia vRS.
Skoda’s flagship model and top of the Octavia range, the latest evolution of the vRS brings new exterior design features, improved specification, sharper performance, and more power.
And it manages to offer all of that whilst sporting a price tag of under £40k. That means you’re going to get an awful lot for your money if you decide to lease yourself one.
In terms of design, the updated, fourth-generation Octavia vRS features restyled front and rear bumpers and a new vRS logo on the radiator grille. The updated front end is enhanced with a black radiator grille surround to match the side window trim and door mirrors. At the rear, the new bumper diffuser and tailpipes are also finished in black while the Estate comes with black roof rails as standard. The new exterior design package also includes a set of striking 19-inch Elias anthracite alloy wheels to complete the look.
The bespoke vRS Design Selection interior has been updated with standard equipment that includes a sporty three-spoke multifunction leather steering wheel and aluminium pedal covers. The sports seats have been finished with contrast red stitching as well as the sporty vRS logo etched into the backrest, and they also offer electrically adjustable lumbar support and a massage function.
Along with the interior design, the technology in the updated Octavia vRS has also been upgraded to suit a range-topping model.
The new vRS is fitted with the same 13-inch infotainment system, 10-inch Virtual Cockpit, and optional head-up display as the other models in the updated Octavia range. It also boasts fast-charging USB-C ports and a wireless charger with active ventilation in the front, while rear passengers will benefit from their own fast-charging USB-C ports and the addition of a rear-seat-only third zone to the climate control. Other standard equipment on the new vRS models include an electrically operated boot with virtual pedal, Keyless operation, and blind spot detection.
The extra power and performance come from the revised powertrain hiding beneath the sleek body. As with the previous version, the new Octavia vRS will be offered in both hatch and estate forms with a single engine option.
The 2.0 TSI four-cylinder petrol unit is loosely based on the same one fitted to Skoda’s championship-winning Fabia RS Rally2 car so its credentials are genuine. The updated version in the latest Octavia vRS has been developed to produce 260bhp, around 20bhp more than before, and a little bit more torque for good measure. That makes it the most powerful Octavia model ever. It delivers that power through a seven-speed DSG automatic and Skoda’s VAQ electro hydraulic differential lock to ensure optimum grip and stability.
The revised powertrain propels the new model from 0-62mph in just 6.4 seconds (6.5 if you opt for the more practical vRS Estate) and offers a top speed of 155mph. Both versions of the new Octavia vRS models have also been lowered by 15mm to further improve driving dynamics. No doubt, the lowering has also contributed to the impressively efficient return of around 40mpg too.
