Updated BMW iX ups the presence, ups the range to 426 miles

BMW’s iX SUV has always had plenty of presence on the road. But now we have an upgraded version that delivers more road presence.
A newly designed kidney grille on the bluff front of BMW’s largest SUV gives the car an unmistakable look, while the designers have also given the car a sportier appearance, too.
As you might expect from BMW, with a sportier design comes increased power across the range.
- The BMW iX xDrive45 delivers 408 hp – an 82 hp increase over the BMW iX xDrive40. The 0-62 mph sprint now takes 5.1 seconds.
- he BMW iX xDrive60 delivers 544 hp - an uplift of 21hp providing the 0-62 mph dash in a mere 4.6 seconds.
- The BMW iX M70 xDrive (which replaces the BMW iX M60 xDrive) pumps out 659hp - a 40hp uplift over its predecessor and a spectacular 3.8 seconds to cover 0-62mph. Not to mention a huge 1,100Nm of torque when Launch Control is activated.
The enhanced M Sport trim features a sculpted front bumper and rear diffuser finished in high-gloss black, large air intakes at the front and vertical reflectors at the rear. Darkened M Shadow Line headlights and taillights are now available as part of the M Sport Pro package and are standard for the BMW iX M70 xDrive.

The range-topping model is equipped with the M Sport trim and M Sport Pro package as standard and additionally features a model-specific BMW kidney grille adorned with the M logo, black exterior mirror caps and exclusive 22-inch M light-alloy wheels.
Inside there are new M multifunction seats – finished in Alcantara/Sensatec or natural leather as an option – while M Sport customers additionally benefit from a three-spoke M leather steering wheel, Dark Silver trim finishers, an anthracite headlining, M-specific pedals and a high-gloss black centre console.
But what about the range?
The good news here is that, like the power upgrades, the batteries of all three versions now provide greater range on a charge, with increases of up to 40% according to BMW and, in the case of the iDrive60, over 420 miles on a charge. Here are the figures for each model.
- The BMW iX xDrive45 can travel up to 374 miles on a single charge.
- The BMW iX xDrive60 M Sport can travel up to 426 miles on a single charge.
- And the BMW iX M70 xDrive has a range of up to 366 miles.
Prices range from £74,400 for the iX xDrive45 Sport to £113,300 for the top of the range iX M70 xDrive. Or you can lease an iX here from Gateway2Lease with deliveries from May.
