Renault Trafic E-Tech expands zero-emission van options

The Renault Traffic is 40 years old, but the latest model has its eyes on the future with a fully electric version.

The Renault Trafic E-Tech comes with a choice of two body lengths and two heights, based around a 52kWh battery that delivers an official 186-mile range at a maximum speed of 68mph.

Rapid charging fills the battery in an hour at a 50kW charger, while a typical wall box would take eight hours. For peace of mind, the battery comes with an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

The Trafic E-Tech can carry up to 1,222kg in a cargo area measuring up to 8.9 cubic metres, while it can also tow a maximum of 920kg.

Using the MyRenault smartphone app, drivers can enable scheduled battery charging, remotely check battery status, and switch on cab pre-heating. The app can also list the destinations that can be reached with the battery’s remaining range, along with any charging points on a planned route.

Standard specification includes an 8-inch screen with wireless smartphone integration and full LED headlights.

The cabin can be adapted to become a workplace, as the Trafic’s standard Mobile Office provides a middle passenger seat that folds down to become a desk space, including a detachable A4 clipboard and a laptop storage slot.

Other standard equipment includes heated electrically adjustable door mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, active emergency braking system, tyre pressure warning, lane departure warning, driver attention alert and drowsiness warning.

Available options include climate control, heated seats, 360° parking sensors, rear parking camera, automatic high beam, automatic headlights, rain sensitive wipers, blind spot warning, and a range of door and glazing configurations.

According to Renault, expect deliveries to start in September.
