New Volvo ES90 promises 435 miles on a charge

Out of the shadows of this teaser picture appears a brand new performance machine from Volvo.
Not an SUV; not a sportscar; but a new saloon, which you can see (just about) in these pictures.
Its performance comes from the range it can cover on a single charge: 435 miles.
And its ability to add over 180 miles of charge on an ultra rapid charger in just 10 minutes.
Volvo says the secret to the car’s ability to charge so swiftly is new 800 volt architecture, which provides greater efficiency over 400 volt systems. Along with completely new battery management software and hardware, and a progressive body design, this new Volvo will go farther and charge faster than any electric Volvo before.
As you might expect from the new Volvo, the ES90 is packed with recycled and natural materials that contribute to lower CO2 emissions in production. 29 per cent of all aluminium and 18 per cent of all steel used in the ES90 is recycled, while the ES90 also contains 16 per cent recycled polymers and bio-based materials. The wood panels inside the ES90 are made from FSC-certified wood.
The ES90 also comes with a battery passport. Based on blockchain technology, this allows Volvo to track the raw materials used in the car’s production. For instance, the passport lets you know where the lithium, cobalt, nickel and graphite used in the battery originate from. It also highlights the CO2 footprint of the full battery pack and other relevant information. Volvo says it provides transparency about how the company sources raw battery material in a responsible way.
The brand new Volvo will be revealed to the world on 05 March - until then, we have a variety of existing Volvos that you can lease for business.
