Electric Vehicles  New Launches

Tesla has revealed a new ultra-efficient variant of the Model 3 with an official range of 436 miles.

The Tesla Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) can achieve around 5.0mi/kWh, making it one of the most frugal electric vehicles on the road. Tesla says it can travel a kilometre using the same energy as heating a meal in the microwave.

An average driver covering 10,000 miles per year and charging at home at a rate of 7p/kWh would spend less than £150 per year on charging, Tesla says. Using a fast public charger, the car can add up to 175 miles range to its battery in 15 minutes.

The new addition to the Model 3 line-up features all the styling upgrades of the latest model, along with improved cabin materials, ride quality and soundproofing.

It features a nine-speaker audio system and a new eight-inch display in the back for rear-seat passengers to control climate and entertainment settings.

There are also heated seats in the front and rear.

Drivers can now choose from the entry-level rear-wheel drive model, with 318 miles of official range, the new long-range RWD variant and an all-wheel drive model capable of 390 miles on a single charge.

The range-topping Performance All-Wheel Drive has an official range of 328 miles, and a 0-60mph time of 2.9 seconds (compared to 5.8 seconds in the new long-range model).

Order books are open now for lleasing the new Model 3 Long Range RWD, with deliveries starting in November.
