New entry-level Audi Q4 40 e-tron broadens lineup appeal

It seems nobody has told Audi that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Why else would it be trying to convince people you can actually pay less and get more. That’s basically what is happening with the newest addition to the Q4 SUV range. Intended to broaden the appeal of the range as well as lowering the price point, Audi UK is introducing a new entry-level version to the lineup, the Audi Q4 40 e-tron.
The Q4 e-tron was the UK’s second best-selling electric vehicle in 2024, and Audi is obviously aiming for top spot this year by offering a new, entry-level model fitted with a 63kWh battery.
We’re presuming you all know that the Q4 is Audi’s small SUV and given that second place finish in last year’s chart, it’s as popular as every other Audi seems to be. In all honesty, that’s not really a surprise though. If you lease yourself an Audi – the particular model doesn’t really matter – you know exactly what you’re getting. Stylish design, excellent build quality, a beautifully designed and comfortable interior, the latest technology, and a suitably premium badge that looks nice on your driveway.
The new Audi Q4 40 e-tron is no exception to that rule
The new model enters the range with a choice of both SUV and Sportback versions, and in three trim-levels: Sport, S-Line, and Black Edition.
Standard equipment includes Audi MMI navigation plus, Audi connect navigation & infotainment, and the fully digital 10.25-inch Audi virtual cockpit instrument cluster. The upgraded ChatGPT voice-operated system allows you to control infotainment, navigation, climate settings, and even ask everyday questions in normal, everyday language.
The new Q4 40 e-tron also features manual battery preconditioning and predictive maintenance reminders for even more convenience and ease of use. And despite the smaller battery capacity of 63kWh, you don’t even need to sacrifice much in terms of power or usability either.
The Q4 40 e-tron manages to squeeze around 200bhp from its battery and synchronous electric motor, allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 8.1 seconds, and on to a top speed of 99mph. It can even tow up to 1,200kg, if you’re so inclined. You can expect a range of around 250 miles from the SUV version, or 258 miles for the more aerodynamic Sportback model.
When it comes to topping up the battery, charging times are optimised for the Q4 40 e-tron thanks to the intelligent route planner and the automatic battery-preconditioning function connected to it.
Under ideal conditions, the battery can be charged from 10% - 80% in just 24 minutes at a fast-charging station
Up to 93 miles of range (96 miles in Sportback version) can be added to the battery in just 10 minutes thanks to the maximum DC charging power of 165 kW.
The new 63kWh Audi Q4 40 e-tron should be available to leas by the time you read this.
