Kia’s EV6 GT has been awarded Company Car of the Year at the News UK Motor Awards 2023. The flagship electric grand tourer was picked as the best company car on the market by motoring journalists from News UK’s titles The Sun, The Sunday Times, Driving.co.uk, and Times Luxx magazine.

Judges recognised the Kia EV6 GT’s ‘blend of high performance, long driving range, ultra-fast charging times, and zero-emissions capabilities’. The GT version of the EV6 is currently Kia’s most powerful production car ever. Producing 577bhp and 740Nm of torque from twin electric motors, all-wheel drive helps push the EV6 GT from 0-62mph in under four seconds.

The headline performance figures will grab the attention, but company car drivers are more likely to rate the charging time of less than 20 minutes for a 10-80% charge on high-power points. A driving range of 263 miles is not the longest in the EV6 line-up, but it’s still considerable when matched to the charging performance. Crucially, as a pure-electric model, the Kia has a BIK rate of 2% - fixed until the end of FY 2024/25.

Nick Rufford, motoring editor at The Sunday Times, said: “Strap yourself in and prepare for take-off. With a 0-62mph time of 3.5sec the EV6 GT must be a contender for quickest rep-mobile on the road. At a high-speed charger it’ll refill in as little time as it takes to grab a coffee. Benefit in kind (BIK) tax is lower than petrol and diesel cars, hence winning Company Car of the Year 2023.”
