Brand New Jeep Compass Xe goes exploring

General Guides  New Launches

In a warming world, Jeep has very sensibly launched its latest marketing campaign for the all-new Jeep Compass 4xe Plug-In Hybrid by highlighting its ‘Friendly by Nature' credentials. We all know that the way we think about cars is changing rapidly as technology moves away from the internal combustion engine and embraces electricity. Even a big, capable off-roader has no excuse anymore.

Set to a composition by Flavio Ibba and Stefano Switala titled ‘Be Quiet Around' and a chorus of jungle noises, the advert begins with the new Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid driving on a dirt road through a jungle setting, before its electric mode is activated. There's lots of animals doing animal things – watch out for the amorous tortoises – lots of greenery and dramatic scenery, and all accompanied by a complete absence of engine noise.

The new Jeep Compass 4xe is available in two variants, the Plug-in Hybrid S and Plug-in Hybrid Trailhawk.

Standard features in the Jeep Compass 4xe Plug-in Hybrid S include the new 10.1 inch intelligent Uconnect infotainment system with navigation, a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, automatic liftgate, new 19 inch aluminium wheels, redesigned premium LED headlights, as well as power seats with memory padding, which adapt to the body for maximum comfort on the move. Moving up the range to the Trailhawk adds five driving modes to choose from in the new ‘Selec-Terrain' control system. It also comes as standard with new 17 inch alloy wheels and full LED headlights for enhanced visibility.

The new Jeep Compass 4xe Plug-in Hybrid interior also boasts cleaner, sharper lines and the interior storage capacity is more than doubled, from 2.8 litres to 7.2 litres, so there's plenty of room for supplies on those family adventures. Plus, the premium materials and dashboard and seat finishes give this compact SUV a distinctive Jeep style. The new intelligent 10.1 inch Uconnect infotainment system, ‘Hey Jeep' voice assistant and your home assistant are all included in the My Wi-Fi package too.

Damien Dally, Managing Director, Jeep UK, says of the new car:

“With Jeep moving towards a more sustainable future, the New Compass 4xe represents an important step in that journey. We wanted to create a memorable, tongue-in-cheek call-to-action that we can still explore and be adventurous without disturbing the environment and nature around us. With new premium tech and interior features on board, the New Jeep Compass 4xe has been driven by innovation and the needs of our customers. Delivering up to 240bhp and accelerating from 0-60mph in 7.3 seconds, the New Jeep Compass 4xe Plug-In Hybrid still retains its 4x4 capabilities.”

You may never actually take your Jeep into the jungle to investigate the mating habits of the tortoise, but it's still nice to know that your practical 4x4 has retained the ability to do just that while embracing the efficiency and cleanliness of electricity.

And if you are thinking of leasing a new SUV the Jeep Compass 4xe is definitely worth a look before you make your final decision.
