Low Emission Vehicles  New Launches

If you’ve been thinking about leasing a practical, comfortable estate car, a new option that might make your final decision a little more straightforward has just arrived. It’s got stylish looks, all the legroom and boot space you’ll need for everyday life, incredibly generous specification, plenty of power for effortless driving, and it even comes with the latest efficient plug-in hybrid technology offering significant savings on running costs.

Let us introduce you to the brand-new Skoda Superb iV PHEV.

With the fourth-generation Skoda Superb already boasting an impressive amount of new technology squeezed into its even more roomy interior, the introduction of the brand’s latest hybrid drivetrain to the range is just another reason to consider it the ideal lease option.

The new Superb iV estate was designed from the outset to accommodate Skoda’s new plug-in hybrid system.

It now features a larger battery pack and completely redesigned power electronics to further optimise range and efficiency, as well as offering all the quality, space, and practicality you’d expect from a flagship model.

New drivetrain can deliver 84 miles in EV mode

The Superb’s latest hybrid drivetrain consists of two elements; a highly efficient 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor built directly into the six-speed DSG gearbox. The petrol engine and electric motor combine to develop a total system output of 204bhp. The larger 25.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack boasts almost twice the capacity of the first-generation battery and delivers a corresponding boost in all-electric driving range as well as the additional power.

In E-mode, the new Skoda Superb iV now offers an all-electric driving range of up to 84 miles, which means most of your journeys could probably be completed entirely emissions-free.

The Superb iV’s second-generation plug-in system also introduces a faster and more sophisticated charging system. As well as moving the charging port from the front grille to the front wing for easier access, a new CCS socket has also been added so you also have the option to recharge the battery via a DC rapid-charger for the first time. With a peak speed of 50kW, the Superb iV’s battery can now take advantage of those faster charging times with a 10-80% boost needing around 26 minutes. As with the previous PHEV model, the new Skoda Superb iV can also be charged on a regular domestic AC supply for a regular overnight charge.

The new Skoda Superb iV PHEV also comes with three driving modes to make the most of the hybrid power. Accessible via the ‘Hybrid’ icon on the infotainment system, you can easily switch between E-Mode, Hybrid, and Sport modes.

Three driving modes for different driving styles

E-mode is the default option, and as long as the battery is sufficiently charged and the outside temperature is above -10°C (which isn’t usually an issue in the UK) it will always start in this electric-only mode for maximum efficiency.

Switching to Hybrid mode puts the car’s control unit in charge of the decision, continuously assessing the driving situation to find the most effective and efficient combination of electric motor and petrol engine to minimise fuel consumption.

Finally, and if the mood takes you, Sport mode offers the choice of temporarily ignoring efficiency in favour of harnessing all of the Skoda Superb iV’s 204bhp and 350Nm of torque for a dynamic driving experience.

The all-new Skoda Superb range of hatchback and estate models was actually revealed at the end of last year so you may already be aware of the different specifications. While the PHEV option is only available on estate versions you’ll still have the same choice of three trim-levels: SE Technology, SE L and Laurin & Klement.

The entry-level SE Technology trim is generously equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, a 13-inch central infotainment display with Sat Nav, a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit display, and heated front seats as standard. It also gets a Rear View Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control with Speed Assist, Lane Assist Plus, Traffic Jam Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition. It makes a good choice for business users.

SE L models add larger 18-inch silver alloy wheels, rear LED lights and rear fog lights, and Skoda’s new generation LED matrix headlights featuring LED daytime running lights, Dynamic Range Control and Cornering, Poor Weather Light, and an all-weather light mode that replaces the role of front fog lights. The SE L trim also adds sports comfort seats with massage function, an electrically-operated tailgate, and an electric sliding parcel shelf for convenient access to the spacious boot.

Range-topping L&K versions also boast larger 18-inch alloys, this time in a stylish anthracite finish. The interior benefits from an upgraded sound system, heated multi-function steering wheel with DSG paddles, heated rear seats, heated windscreen, and heated washer nozzles. You can also choose between a special L&K Suite Black with black leather interior or L&K Suite Cognac Design Selection.

Order books for the keenly-anticipated all-new Skoda Superb iV plug-in hybrid are already open, so if you are looking for a spacious, well-equipped, and efficient estate car you don’t need to wait any longer than the time it takes to get in touch and let us know which particular version you’d like to lease.
