Brand-new Kia XCeed is on the way
We all know that the compact crossover is one of the most popular lease options. Such cars offer the best of a lot of worlds, and there's plenty of them to choose from. And no compact crossover list would be complete without the updated Kia XCeed.
The new Kia XCeed features a number of design changes, as well as a powertrain line-up that includes mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel versions. Both the exterior and interior have been updated with new styling touches and interior options.
What changes can you expect on the new XCeed?
The new XCeed boasts LED headlamps, a revised grille, and a new front bumper and air intake design. It's got the long bonnet and sloping roofline to give it a dynamic and sporty appeal, and at the rear the new LED taillights emit a distinctively slim light signature. Wheel arch and side sill cladding, along with satin chrome roof rails, lend the car a tough go-anywhere presence.
Inside, the new Kia XCeed you can feel the difference over a conventional hatchback with the commanding seat position and raised ground clearance. A ‘floating' touchscreen infotainment system stands apart from the dashboard, while the lower section of the instrument panel provides a set of touch-sensitive buttons, dials and switches to control audio volume, heating, and ventilation. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster can also be linked to the vehicle's Drive Modes for different display options.
The interior is finished in soft-touch materials throughout, with a satin chrome dashboard trim providing a refined feel. The interior also receives a GT-line treatment, with a host of improvements to match the sporting feel of the exterior including a motorsport-inspired ‘D-cut' steering wheel, black headliner, a gear knob wrapped in perforated leather, and a special GT-line seat design.
The new XCeed's 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system features Bluetooth multi-connection as standard, enabling you to connect two mobile devices at once. Other features include a JBL Premium audio system, dual-zone air-conditioning, a heated steering wheel, heated windscreen, and heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats.
There's a new range of engine options too
Three turbocharged petrol engines are available in the refreshed line-up. You can choose from a three-cylinder 1.0-litre, a four-cylinder 1.5-litre, or the range-topping 1.6-litre T-GDi engine with 200bhp that can accelerate to 60mph in a fraction over 7 seconds when it's bolted to the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For those who regularly cover long distances, the mild-hybrid 1.6-litre diesel engine might be the best option.
An efficient plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option is also available in the new XCeed. The combination of a 44.5kW electric motor, and an efficient 1.6-litre engine generates around 140bhp and offers an all-electric range of around 30 miles. That should enable most drivers to complete the majority of daily drives and short commutes solely on electric power.
A six-speed manual gearbox is available for the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre petrol variants along with 1.6-litre diesel models. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is also a choice for the 1.5-litre T-GDi, 1.6-litre T-GDi and 1.6-litre diesel versions. Plug-in hybrid models are only available with the six-speed dual-clutch box.
Full UK specification will be confirmed closer to the on-sale date so watch this space. The new Kia XCeed is going to prove quite a popular lease option so the sooner you get your order in the sooner you'll be on the road in your brand-new car.
