Brand-new Cupra Terramar available to order

Imagine you’re one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in Europe backed by the might of the Volkswagen Group. What do you do to further cement your place as one of the forerunners in terms of styling, performance, and technological innovation? The answer is simple. You target the fastest growing segment of the European market with an upmarket sporty SUV. That’s the task facing the new Cupra Terramar, and one it will no doubt excel at.

Order books opened in the UK at the end of November so you can already start the lease process and grab yourself a brand-new Cupra Terramar. Four engine options and four trim-levels are already available to order. A fifth engine option will be joining the line-up at the end of January.

The new Cupra Terramar combines the perennially desirable qualities of SUV practicality and sporty performance into an aggressively styled – and incredibly stylish – new model with a wide range of options across the range.

Featuring sleek design from its purposeful front to its powerful rear, the new Terramar is undoubtedly a good-looking option for anyone looking to lease a sporty SUV. Flowing lines work alongside the various angles and creases to create an overall look that is further enhanced with the elements of roof spoiler, front splitter, imposingly wide grille, and rear diffuser.

The interior is equally impressive with the sporty feel being enhanced by the raised centre console that creates a cocoon-like cockpit that looks especially good when combined with the touches of carbon-fibre and copper detailing.

The cockpit suggests a driver-oriented approach that makes the most of the dynamic styling. All the important information is displayed on the digital instrument panel that sits behind the multifunction steering wheel. The centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment system is also angled slightly towards the driver making it simple to access the car’s various systems.

The stylish design is further enhanced with a choice of nine exterior colours intended to highlight the air of power and performance that surrounds the new Cupra Terramar.

Choice of colours include matt options

Alongside two matt options – Century Bronze Matt and Enceladus Grey Matt – the colour choices are completed with Fjord Blue, Glacial White, Cosmos Blue, Timanfaya Grey, Midnight Black and Graphene Grey. There’s also an option inspired by the plasma colour of Cupra’s Dark Rebel showcar, the suitably named Dark Void.

A number of additional options can also be specified, such as striking copper alloys on the VZ trim, space saver spare wheel, performance brakes, panoramic sunroof, and a Sennheiser sound system upgrade.

In terms of specification, the new Cupra Terramar will be available to order in V1, V2, VZ1 and VZ2 trims. The initial model line-up also features a highly-specified First Edition variant. Depending on your preferred trim-level, first customers will be able to choose from three engine options, a 150bhp 1.5-litre eTSI with DSG transmission, and two plug-in e-hybrid powertrains.

Both hybrid options are based on the same 1.5-litre petrol engine offering either 204bhp or 272bhp from the combination of internal combustion and electric motors. The e-hybrid can also provide more than 70 miles of electric-only driving so it’s likely you won’t even need the petrol bit for your average journey. Given the sporty nature Cupra has imbued the new Terramar with, it doesn’t take a huge leap of imagination to suggest the more powerful of the hybrid options is the one that promises to deliver the sportiest performance in this brand-new sporty SUV.

There are also a couple of 2.0-litre petrol engine options to add to the line-up.

VZ1 and VZ2 models can be specified with a 265bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine coupled with the DSG transmission and Cupra’s 4Drive all-wheel drive system from launch. A slightly less powerful 204bhp version of the same 4Drive powertrain for V1 and V2 variants will follow in January.

That powerful 2.0-litre option can also be specified in an exclusive America’s Cup Special Edition if you get your order in early enough. Limited to around 1,300 units worldwide, the Cupra Terramar America’s Cup Edition boasts a lot more unique features than just the 2.0-litre all-wheel drive powertrain.

The America’s Cup Special Edition is the only model you can specify in Enceladus Grey Matt – for the time being at least - and will also include exclusive 20 inch black alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and the America’s Cup logo lasered on the B-pillars. The leather interior is finished in Moonslate and features model-exclusive bucket seats that reinforce the dynamic performance you can expect from a Cupra.

Regardless of your preferred specification, the new Cupra Terramar is undoubtedly a fantastic looking and generously equipped lease option. Whether you get in early and try to bag yourself one of those limited-edition versions or wait until the new year when your options are broader, it’s highly unlikely you’ll be disappointed with your leasing choice of Cupra Terramar.
