Brand-new Audi A6 e-tron sets new standards in design and range

Electric Vehicles  New Launches

It’s taken a few years but it’s finally arrived. After an early glimpse of an innovative new family of all-electric models at the Shanghai Motor Show back in 2021, the first production models are now rolling off the assembly line. Beautifully designed, powerful, with a refined and comfortable interior, and one of the most impressive ranges in the mid-size EV segment. And they are just a few of the many reasons why you might want to lease the brand-new Audi A6 e-tron.

In line with Audi’s new naming structure – even numbers for all-electric models, odd numbers for combustion engines – the new A6 e-tron and S6 e-tron are the brand’s first purely electric models available in both Sportback and Avant versions.

As the second model on the brand’s PPE platform, the upper mid-size vehicle continues Audi’s familiar product strengths of performance, range, efficiency, and charging. It is also the platform’s first model with a flat floor concept, which helps make the new models some of the most aerodynamically efficient the VW Group has ever produced.

The exterior is sporty and perfectly proportioned. The body’s elegant design features slim daytime running lights and a wide grille for true road presence. A black mask surrounds the grille with the main headlights and other functional elements such as the sensors for the driver assistance systems and the air intakes, integrated into the dark mask to make them almost invisible. A striking and dynamic roofline leads to a redesigned rear end highlighted by a continuous three-dimensional light strip. A striking spoiler lip finishes off the rear of the Sportback, and an eye-catching rear diffuser adds to the sporty and dynamic look of the rear.

The Audi A6 e-tron comes with 20-inch five-twin spoke wheels as standard, while the S line gets 20-inch "five-spoke tripod" wheels. The S6 e-tron comes with 21-inch wheels as standard. Up to eight exterior colours are available at market launch, including a Daytona grey pearl effect and Siam beige metallic available exclusively for the S line variant and the S model.

Audi's new design philosophy defines the interior and being an Audi it will be an exquisitely comfortable, refined, and well-equipped interior too.

Depending on the equipment level, the A6 e-tron offers many innovative features, such as second-generation virtual exterior mirrors, augmented reality head-up display, a panoramic glass roof that becomes opaque at the touch of a button and illuminated rings at the rear. The MMI panoramic display features a curved design and consists of the 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and the 14.5-inch MMI touch display, together with the 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display. The passenger display also includes a privacy mode that prevents driver distraction from whatever content is being streamed.

The infotainment system allows the A6 e-tron to update its content via over-the-air, meaning the latest Audi connect services and the enhanced e-tron route planner, which comes as standard, are always up to date. A wide variety of apps are available via the Audi Application Store integrated directly into the MMI, so you don’t even need to use a smartphone to access them. The optional Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with headrest loudspeakers also ensures optimum sound.

In terms of driver assistance systems, Audi’s Park Assist Plus, a surround view camera, traffic sign-based speed limiter, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and distraction and drowsiness warning will all come as standard too.

The powertrains in the new Audi A6 e-tron range are just as impressive and high-tech as the interior.

450 mile range

Powerful and highly efficient electric motors and a lithium-ion battery with a total gross capacity of 100 kWh (94.9 kWh net) ensure a range that should exceed more than 450 miles depending on your chosen model. Thanks to 800-volt technology and a maximum DC charging capacity of 270 kW as standard, short charging stops are also possible with the Audi A6 e-tron. Connected to an appropriate high-power charger, the new A6 e-tron is capable of adding up to 192 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Two versions of the A6 e-tron will be available from launch: the A6 Sportback/Avant e-tron performance and the S6 Sportback/Avant e-tron.

The rear-wheel drive A6 e-tron performance models have a system output in the region of 360bhp, allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 130mph. S6 e-tron models use quattro all-wheel drive and have a system output of up to 540bhp with launch control activated. That translates to a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds and top speed of 149mph. Further models with rear-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive will follow at a later date.

The new A6 e-tron range also provides a dynamic drive with a tuned front axle, and optional adaptive air suspension that can raise and lower the body by up to 20mm for optimum handling, comfort, and efficiency. Both the Audi S6 e-tron and A6 e-tron are equipped with different sized tyres on the front and rear axles, further improving stability and sportiness.

The brand-new A6 e-tron and the S6 e-tron, are now available to order in both Sportback and Avant variants. And we can’t think of a single reason why you wouldn’t want to lease one for yourself.
