The All-New 2017 Kia Picanto

 Published 27th February 2019
New Launches

Over the past few months, we have seen Kia launch their updated Rio and Sportage models, next on the list to receive an update is the Kia Picanto. Hitting roads in May, the 2017 model will be officially launched at next months Geneva Motor Show. Improvements to the popular city car include a bigger interior, new technology and new engines. Will this third-generation model beat off stiff competition from the likes of the Volkswagen Up, Hyundai i10, Skoda Citigo and Peugeot 108?

The new 2017 model is more sportier than it's predecessor thanks to it's new tiger nose grille and bulky front. It gains an extra 15mm in wheelbase space providing the interior cabin with more room and comfort. The model will now only be offered as a five-door model but this will improve accessibility to the rear seats.

Inside, the cabin includes a new built in seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This will allow the driver to control their smartphones through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto services. Optional extras include wireless smartphone charger and reversing camera.

Boot space in the new Picanto has also increased to 255 litres with the rear seats up and 1,010 litres with the rear seats flat.

To keep the new Picanto on trend and more appealing with younger drivers, Kia will be offering five optional interior colour packs where the drive can choose the colours of the seats, stitching and inside door panels.

As you can imagine the key engines in this range will be economical petrol ones. The three-cylinder 1.0-litre and four-cylinder 1.2-litre engines will be carried forward. Joining the lineup will be a new 1.0-litre turbocharged engine which will be the most powerful in the range achieving 0-60mph in 10.1 seconds.

We will bring you more information on the 2017 Kia Picanto after it's official launch next month at the Geneva Motor Show. In the meantime why not check out our latest leasing offers on the current Picanto model here: Kia Picanto 2016 model.
